How the A9 practice test works
This is the ASE A9 Light Vehicle Diesel Engines test in your browser: 50 questions drawn at random from 410 A9 practice questions, with 75 minutes for all of them, the scored length and time of the real test. Each question has four answers and one is right, and you can move between questions and change your answers until time runs out.
When time runs out, the test is submitted as it stands. You see your score and every question you missed, with its explanation. ASE publishes no fixed passing score, so this practice test counts 35 right answers out of 50 as a pass: you can miss 15.

The real test has 50 scored questions and 10 research questions that don't count toward your score, mixed in unmarked, all in 75 minutes, so answer every one. You take it at a Prometric test center, or online at home or work if you're eligible, and you can show each question in Spanish beside the English. A9 is not one of the eight tests, A1 to A8, that make an ASE-Certified Master Automobile Technician.
